Pierre Gagnaire (born April 9, 1950 in Apinac, Loire Department) is a renowned French haute cuisine chef, owner of the Pierre Gagnaire restaurant on rue Balzac in the 8th district of Paris (with 3 Michelin stars) and a ten restaurants of the same name in the world. Gagnaire is considered an iconoclastic chef who has coped with the fusion movement in the kitchen, and his cuisine is generally described as 'playful', creative and unpredictable. He started his career at St. Etienne, where he achieved 3 Michelin stars, and managed to knock down the concept of traditional French cuisine by juxtaposing flavors, textures, and ingredients. His influence in the kitchen has become international.
